About
Graduating in 2006 from Polytechnique Montréal with a degree in computer engineering, Jean-François began his career as an IT consultant before venturing into entrepreneurship. In 2007, he co-founded Fibrenoire, a telecommunications company specializing in fiber optic connectivity for businesses. For 10 years, Jean-François managed the company’s technological development as CTO and Vice-President of Technologies. In 2013, Fibrenoire raised financing from the private investment firm Novacap to pursue several acquisitions. In 2016, Fibrenoire was sold to Videotron and the company became responsible for telecommunications services for large enterprises.
In July 2017, he left his position at Fibrenoire. Jean-François founded the company Obkio in 2018. Obkio develops SaaS software that allows corporate IT teams to monitor and diagnose network performance. Obkio has achieved international success with customers worldwide. Jean-François sold the company at the end of 2023. In addition to his entrepreneurial experience, Jean-François serves on several boards of directors, including Polytechnique Montréal.
Being an entrepreneur is not a simple, linear journey without obstacles. No one knows their company better than the entrepreneur who founded it, but like everyone else, they have blind spots. My goal as a coach is to help entrepreneurs focus on priorities and help by sharing my past experiences. All this without forgetting a very important point which is super motivating for me: the passion of entrepreneurs and the mission of their company.
